Background Guide

Your Chair – Mari Angelopoulos

Mari Angelopoulos is the chair of the X-Men committee at MUMUNC XVII. She also serves as the Co-Deputy Secretary-General of MUMUN. Mari is a senior double-majoring in International Studies and Data Analytics, with minors in Japanese and Political Science. She is from Hinsdale, Illinois, and has been involved in Model UN since high school.

Outside of MUN, Mari has served as the President of Sigma Iota Rho, an honor society for International Studies. She is also a member of Women in Law and hosts a radio show on Miami’s Redhawk Radio. In Fall 2024, she studied abroad at Toyo University in Tokyo!

Mari is looking forward to an enjoyable and engaging MUMUNC!

Your Co-Chair – McKenzie Paul

McKenzie Paul is the co-chair of the X-Men: The Quiet Council committee. She is a senior double major in biochemistry and geography with a pre-med co-major and minor in molecular biology from Springboro, Ohio. McKenzie joined Model UN in her freshman year of college, co-chaired the 1968 DNC committee and the Fall of the Romanov Dynasty committees at MUMUNC in previous years, and has attended the UNCMUNC, NCSC, and CHOMUN collegiate conferences.

Outside of Model UN, she is an active member of Alpha Omicron Pi and the Miami Chemical Society. She hopes to pursue a doctorate in genetics research in the future. McKenzie is so excited for her last MUMUNC and can’t wait to work to make it an incredible, educational experience for everyone! 

Your Backroom Head – Barrett Croskey

Barrett Croskey is the backroom head for the X-Men committee at MUMUNC XVII. He serves alongside Mari as the Co-Deputy Secretary-General of MUMUN. Barrett is a senior Psychology major with a co-major in Pre-Medical Studies and a minor in Neuroscience. He is from Wadsworth, Ohio, and has been doing Model UN since middle school. 

Aside from Model UN, Barrett is involved in Phi Delta Epsilon, Miami’s medical fraternity, where he served as the President, as well as the Quinn Neuroscience Research Laboratory in the Psychology department where he is leading an experiment on fear learning. 

Barrett is super excited to be back with MUMUNC this year and hopes it is a fun time for everyone!
